Day 1

Namaste to all. Today I watched the week 1 and 2 videos twice. First I watched them casually as I went through my daily yoga stretching routine, listening to see what points were new to me and what points I already had a grasp on. I found that I don't have a grasp on that much. The second time watching them, I went through the exercises along with Sifu. I think the best thing I have going for me is the fact that I haven't been through much internal martial arts training in the past. I have a rudimentary understanding of chi gong theory and chinese medicine (and by rudimentary I mean I understand things like "bubbling springs point", "huiyin point", "microcosmic orbit", yin and yang, etc.) but I am a true beginner so it's easy for me to approach this from the perspective of an "uncarved block" or "empty cup". The worst thing I have going for me is the fact that I haven't been through much internal martial arts training in the past. I really have no idea what I'm doing. Questions I have after practicing today.. what exactly is meant by "wrapping the big toe" and  "suspending the crown?" I'm having a hard time knowing whether I'm doing those things right or not. I'm actually having a hard time knowing whether I'm doing anything right but those two things stand out the most. Peace & love.

Lucky to be a beginner.

Excellent start!

All the details will be clarified. Look into yourself, follow along each lesson. There's no rush or timetable. One guided lesson several times a week and you will feel what is described.

Thank you Sifu.

Thank you Sifu.

Don't feel bad at all! I have

Don't feel bad at all! I have touched hands with Sifu and had personal corrections from him, and I am still a little confused. :-)

It is good to be a complete beginner in that you have not accumulated any bad habits or have some different understanding of the concepts that Sifu will be trying to express in the lessons. As for wrapping the toes and suspending the crown, I am also having trouble with those among other things. I just say if I keep reviewing and practicing that things will make sense... And if that doesn't help, I can always call Patrick before I go bug Sifu!

haha thanks man

haha thanks man

So glad to hear from you Brother!

Adam, Couldn't be happier to see you with our family and engaging out method! Welcome to the chi-factory program... and yes you are going to do great and are off to a great start. As Sifu has said, all will be revealed in time, and there is absolutely nothing more to do than follow along with the vids. Watch them several times over if you need to, I sure did and still get something more each time. ANd brother Prince couldn't be more accurate, I've been doing this since it started and I'm still confused all the time. Sifu says this is the way to learning. Glad you're here bro and please continue sharing. Patrick

What Students Say About Training & Everyday Life

Kalama Sutta (Kalama Sutra)

Do not simply believe what you hear just because you have heard it for a long time.
Do not follow tradition blindly merely because it has been practiced that way for many generations.
Do not be quick to listen to rumors.
Do not confirm anything just because it agrees with your scriptures.
Do not foolishly make assumptions.
Do not abruptly draw conclusions by what you see and hear.
Do not be fooled by outward appearances.
Do not hold on tightly to any view or idea just because you are comfortable with it.
Do not accept as fact anything that you yourself find to be illogical.
Do not be convinced of anything out of respect and deference to your spiritual teachers.

You should go beyond opinion and belief. You can rightly reject anything which when accepted, practiced and perfected leads to more aversion, more craving and more delusion. They are not beneficial and are to be avoided. Conversely, you can rightly accept anything which when accepted and practiced leads to unconditional love, contentment and wisdom. These things allow you time and space to develop a happy and peaceful mind. This should be your criteria on what is and what is not the truth; on what should be and what should not be the spiritual practice.
